| How
Can I Help? For me,
the role of a Member of Parliament has four main elements:
Firstly, as a Labour MP,
I have a role as part of the governing party. At the moment, my
contribution is as a Government Minister; other MPs work to support the Government in other ways.
Secondly, I have a
parliamentary role, which all MPs have. This involves meetings and debates
with other representatives and political and lobbying groups.
I also have a
responsibility to the constituency I represent. I am involved in promoting
the area of Stretford and Urmston, and in securing funding for projects here
to raise the profile of Trafford and Manchester. In this capacity, I work
closely with local Councillors, government agencies and local voluntary
organisations.
Last but not least, I have a responsibility to the people within my constituency.
I can only represent and offer assistance to people who live in Stretford
and Urmston and to find out if I am your MP using your postcode, click on

Who is my MP?
Constituents contact me
about a wide range of issues, whether it be a specific problem with an organisation or authority, or a concern about an area of
Government policy.
The staff in my
constituency office are available over the telephone to deal with any
queries you might have, or you can write to me. I also hold
advice surgeries throughout the constituency, and my staff will be able to
provide you with an appointment over the phone.
My constituency office
can also help to arrange Palace of Westminster tours and tickets for my
constituents.
If
you do not live in my constituency and want to raise a Home Office matter,
this should be addressed to the Home Office and not my constituency office,
please. My contact details can be found using the
link from the menu bar on the left-hand side of the screen.
